Update for the week
Well as always, when my life is the definition of boring, but yet I'm too reluctant to let my blog collect cobwebs and spiders and cockroaches or (God forbid) LIZARDS, I will post up random stupid shots.
Random stupid shots that sadly, depict my life at the moment.
The above 2 pictures are my doodles on some maths notes. Unfortunately for Jingru, they are my doodles on her notes, made while she's snoozing away in dreamland, dreaming of a certain someone, while I scribble nonsense on her notes!
Of course, fortunately for me... well, they're not my notes! HAHA! I'm not mean alright, when she discovers these doodles, sometimes weeks later, I'll offer my eraser to get rid of those marks!
These, on the other hand are my notes!! Jasmine was wayyyy too bored during AerospaceDIE lecture and decided to showcase her wonderful artistic skills by drawing caricatures of us. No prizes in guessing which one am I. Starts with a G.... Ends with a K.... Mehhhhh~.
Anyway I totally didn't expect to see Euler's Angles at the top of the picture la, it wasn't meant to be inside. But yet it is. Another strong reminder of how much I dislike him. Kind of how I hated Faraday back in my JC days, haha.
My brain size is a holy 2906cm^3!!!!! HAHAHA MY HIGHEST SCORE EVER! I think it's so much easier to play on the iPhone/iTouch cause using the computer mouse is very unreliable sometimes!
As in, it's easier to control your fingers directly than it is to use your fingers to control the mouse to control the cursor right?
But yeah, yet another reason to get an iTouch - to play WHTBB!
Yet another reason to get an iTouch - this game called Paper toss!! What you see above obviously isn't the REAL game, it's a stupid replica of the game itself, where you attempt to throw rubbish into a wastepaper basket, with the fan attempting to thwart your efforts.
So how? Should I get? Should I not?!!! It's killing me, this dilemma. I mean, it's killing me more than studying AerospaceDIE already can.
JOANNE!!! This is for you! You know how the passageway from Esplanade to Citylink always have works of art on display, well, guess what is on display now?!
GUMMY BEARS! Rows and rows of gummy bears in their gelatinous goodness! Of course you can't eat it, but well. I figured you, being a gummy bear fan, would appreciate their cuteness and colourfulness all the same.
And finally, a bit more depressing... My tuition/exam schedule/students exam schedule for November. A levels are here (tomorrow in fact), and so I have quite a lot of tuition sessions. Not to mention my own exams are coming...
Ah well. At least there's the saying, faster come, faster go. I shall approach the impending exams with that mindset and everything will be alright in the end.

饮水思源
When I was studying in Xinmin, at least, for the 1st year I was there, there used to be a pond right outside the building with the band room.
There was this fake water feature, set to look like a real waterfall and all, with these 4 words carved into the side of the fake rock.
饮水思源
At that point in time I think it was one of the more important values Xinmin tried to instill in all of it's pupils. We were reminded to never forget where we came from, always to be grateful about everything that has been done for us, to us...
I don't know if they still teach the kids nowadays that, but probably not. The water feature is long gone, what with moving to the Fernvale site in Sengkang, and then back to a newly renovated Xinmin.
I'd like to think that out of everything Xinmin tried to teach me, this is the one thing that I'll bring with me wherever I go. Never to forget your origins.
It doesn't just apply to this alma mater of mine. It applies to everything in life, all the school's I've been to, my parents, my country. I'd also like to think that I'm not the only one who graduated without taking that piece of wisdom with me.
Ah. Secondary school years, the best years of my life.
Speaking of, we had a barbecue to celebrate Caiying's twentieth last Saturday!!!
Oh Caiying you're finally twenty! That's all of us isn't it? The next time the gang celebrates a birthday will be to celebrate Boss YJ's twenty first! The horror!
Well if you all recall, on Saturday evening, Singapore experienced the worst rainfall of the year. It was terrible! While we were stoning at the BBQ pit, we couldn't even see the building across the road from Compass Point clearly.
The girls were all ready to pack up our food and retreat to the comfort of Kobe's house, microwaving all our food instead of slaving over a wet barbecue pit.
But the guys were quite insistent on having the barbecue by hook or by crook. Totally puts a whole new meaning to the phrase "Neither Rain Not Sleet Nor Gloom of Night". (That's the US postal service motto by the way)
So they set up umbrellas and what not to shelter us and the fire!
This is them getting all drenched from the rain trying to move the umbrellas from the pool area to the pit.
Cooking the food under said umbrella in the above picture!
I honestly think 4e4 guys are a really good bunch of people! Even when we were little sec3 kids, the guys would always volunteer to start the fire, to cook, while all the girls just talked and waited for food to be served!
Apparently this only happens during 4e4 barbecues. I heard at other people's barbecues, they'll just sit at one side and comment on the mistakes made by the people trying to start the fire going. Haha!
Anyway yes. It was a slogan party, so everyone came dressed in a t-shirt with some sort of caption or slogan.
Mine was on the back of my t-shirt. A slogan party is a good idea though, original and yet hassle free. "Take a hike" "Life's short. Paddle hard" "Saints never hang up their halos"
A pajamas party is equally innovative. I totally can't wait for our Christmas party! Event of the year. Sooner or later I think we'll have to start moving it to Kobe's house, instead of holding it at Deb's.
More pictures?!
Showcasing Huijeen's finest zi-pai skills. Squeezing 6 of us into a single shot, using a normal point and shoot camera. Not bad! Now we know what she does if she's bored. Practicing her zipai skills.
Another one of us! God. Pictures taken from Facebook are gigantic! I love it! Blogger gives me lousy tiny pictures.
Well all in all it was an awesome night. Such cooling weather too, heh. The best part of it was meeting Ching and Yinning, who I don't really meet up with. Really transports me back to the good old times in sec4, with Caiying/Jovin/Ching and Ning.
Group photo!
As Yinning told me after the whole thing, it felt just like we were 16 again.
I think the people I miss most in life are those I don't see often. The aforementioned people, the s07 girls, Deb etc... But well, holidays are the 2 times in a year we do get to meet up, and I definitely can't wait to plan all sorts of activities!
THANK YOU KOBE FOR ORGANISING THIS. I know it's for your girlfriend and all, what with it being her birthday. But I really had fun, and really, we couldn't have celebrated it without your house/BBQ pit/your preparation.

F-ing MatLab
I have this terrible assignment, that's supposed to be on a program called MatLab. Unfortunately, the screwed up dick heads that call themselves my professors didn't even bother giving us any shred of idea on how to use the program.
Yet I'm here spending SO MUCH time on my assignment, getting the wrong codes time and again. The ironic thing is that it's only 15% of my Aerospace DIE-namics module. 15% * 3AUs = somewhere less that 0.5AUs.
My exams are coming, and if I spent more time studying my other modules of which I have plenty (15AUs are tested, 3 are non-examinable and done with), I'm sure it would be more fruitful.
So I'm really considering just giving up the freaking MatLab assignment cause I really have no idea how to do the second question. HOW HOW HOW? (Going to get technical here).
Is it even possible to use ode23 to solve an equation of motion with 2 variables instead of one? And if I DO do that, do I put both EoMs into 1 .m file or do I seperate it? AND if I do put it into 1 .m file, how does my matrix look? Cause the matrix will be a 2*2... Unless I label it as a 4*1 and then add more rows as my time increases?
ARGH. I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know!
Maybe I should get a MatLab tutor. But I have no money though... So retarded! What's wrong with NTU man? If this program is SO IMPORTANT please have a module that allows us to learn everything about it from start to finish!
In fact, they should have scraped C++ programming in year 1 and let us learn MatLab instead! I haven't even seen a shred of C++ since I started year 1 sem 2. I doubt I'll see it again in fact. But looking at MatLab, apparently it's important in Aerodynamics and all sorts of weird modules I'll take in the future.
MY GOD. I'm so bloody pissed every time I try to do this assignment. I think doing tutorials (yes, even Aerospace Dynamics tutorials) makes me much happier in comparison cause I don't feel so stupid!
URGH.
Okay... I had a fun Halloween night! Pictures and hopefully a picture post will be up soon I hope! The last time I wanted to do a picture post I wanted to get pictures from Facebook but my Facebook was down for almost 2 weeks.
I shall cross my fingers/toes/heart and hope that nothing shall happen this time! And try to update soon! Of course it's also subjected to how fast Joanne/YJ uploads any photos to Facebook cause I don't have any!
Well. Yeah I'm gonna go now, and wallow in depression before I sleep. I HATE MATLAB. Whatever I do next time, mark my words... It will have nothing to do with MatLab. Never. Ever.
I think materials are actually quite interesting. Thermodynamics too! Aye, whatever la. I'm in no mood to delve into what I like or not. I shall stop ranting.
Jo just messaged me this:
"heyy qin. i was looking through the photos of the night, i think your hair this length veh nice on you! hahaha yah nothing much, just wanted to tell you that, lol. upload tmr! and seeyou soon at wy's ord and deb's return, jiayou for all the mugging k! nights! =)'

NEW FOUND MOTIVATION
I have decided to really really study for this exams. Not just this semester's exams, but from here on now, I shall be A MUGGER!
Okay. I don't like to be called a mugger, yucks. What I meant was that I shall study hard, study smart, and hopefully do well enough to pull up my GPA even further!
I mean, I'm not stupid. I'm sure I can do better if I work harder. After the A levels, it has all gone downhill. I just skim through my assignments, and complete the bare minimum which is not supposed to be!
So from today onwards, at least until the exams and when the exam results come out, I shall start revising!
Actually I don't know where this new found motivation came from. It's just that I'm sick and tired of feeling stupid, and I'm sick and tired of whining and complaining about how hard something is. Tired of feeling depressed over the hectic workload. Instead of doing so, I might as well actually try to comprehend my lessons, do my tutorials and practice even more.
Although may I add, I still hate the competitiveness and the "special treatment" my course has. What's the point man, in the end graduate you still get a Bachelor's degree right?
That's besides the point. It's too late to change anything, so... I shall just stick with it and persevere!
I sound like I want people to come and find me to beat me up. Eh. I'm just tired and... I don't know. It's just that scrolling through my Facebook page (with all the A and O level related wall posts) and looking at how hard both my tuition kids are studying, I look at myself and wonder, where did my determination go? I was so motivated last time, especially during the A levels, doesn't make sense for all of it to go away now.
So yes. After reevaluating myself, here I am. Hopefully the fire won't go away this time? HAHA.
I'm so done being depressed and emo. Weeee and I'm going to sleep.

The inevitable conundrum
The inevitable conundrum is that how we are all painfully aware that global warming is about to take it's toll on our planet. Yet we continue to succumb to our temptations to please ourselves. Like switching on the air-con just like I'm going to do now.
OKAY. Just typing that makes me feel guilty. Maybe I'll just live with the humidity after all.
Guess what's this?
It's a....BABY SEAT!! In the toilet cubicle of Raffles City. You know, like if you're carrying a baby around and you need to pee or shit, and then you just plop it in this seat while you do your business. Ingenious! I never even thought of that as being a problem before!
Here's my question: Do they have such stuff in the men's toilet? Cause... Well. I mean, carrying the babies aren't really the men's job right?
And this is my current iMoment!! It's a really really old song, it came out in 1975 if I'm not wrong. Damn, my tastes just keep on getting older and older don't they?
Sooner or later they'll regress to sacred church music or something (can't say Baroque music cause I already have some of those.
Yeah anyway it's just a very simple country folk song. Where did I get it from? BONES of course! Brennan and Booth singing it together, and now I'm hooked onto it! Very nice to sing along with it too cause it's so melodious.
Not to mention that despite the simplicity of the lyrics, it's just very beautiful!
Going to sleep now. Nights! This week was awesome actually, but I don't like to do recaps of my activities unless I have pictures to share. Which I don't.
Even then I usually don't cause it's just too much of a hassle. Going to eat something now and slepe!

My long weekend is over
My long weekend is over... Back to school tomorrow, and being demoralised and discouraged by everything around me. Even though my weekends aren't very exciting, I still enjoy them nevertheless, mainly cause of the gang and getting to slack.
This weekend wasn't any different - I had tennis lessons from Huijeen + Kobe on Saturday followed by a Subway dinner with some of the Gang.
Just now in the afternoon I headed to Bugis for our (hopefully) final TechComm meeting!! This is what I said when I met them...
Me: "You know right!! I LEFT MY PENCIL AT ONE OF MY STUDENT'S HOUSE!!" Jas and JR: "What's new..."
That's very true! I don't know why I keep on misplacing my stationery. I think this year alone, I have misplaced my stapler, a blue pen, a mechanical pencil, one eraser - and these were just the ones I really lost, not including the ones that I misplaced and got back again.
My aeroclique (we totally coined this term, it actually sounds cool. Anything with aero sounds cool in it come on, if not why will the brand be called Aeropostale? You don't see brands being called Mechpostale - ewww).
Okay going off on a tangent. My aeroclique keeps on saying I need a chain around my neck with all my stationery attached to it. I'm very irritated with myself cause stationery is not cheap! IT'S VERY EXPENSIVE cause I like to use good quality stuff!! URGH. WEIQIN! Stop leaving stuff around!
Anyway I discovered something pretty long ago, and I never fail to be amazed every single time I encounter this discovery.
This is a picture of my neighbour's house. I would have taken a picture of my own house, but unfortunately my dad decided to paint over the grey parts and make it green instead, so that really won't prove anything in what I'm about to show you.
Yeah, and the following picture is another house, near the area where one of my student stays:
DO YOU SEE THE SIMILARITY?! I'm was so shocked when I realised that both the houses, despite being so far apart, look so similar! It's not just the exterior you know, when I walk out to the bus stop after my tuition lesson, I glimpse into the house and it looks exactly the same!
Are there other private houses in Singapore that look exactly the same even though they're not from the same estate?!
Are HDB flats like that? (Cause they all look the same to me...)
And this is just a random shot of the houses down my street. I think it looks super suburban and fake?? I thought of a very good slogan too. "Stratton Green, your suburban dream" HAHA.
Complete with palm trees and fluffy white clouds and wide open streets, and the Lexus on the right hand side to boot too.
I don't know why this entry has so many stupid pictures of the houses I go pass. If I could I'll take pictures of the houses a bit further into my estate. THOSE ARE CRAZILY GORGEOUS.
But then I'd have to use a really good camera with really good zoom because the main house is wayyyy tooooo farrrrr into the grounds to get a good shot from the gate.
So to end off, this is a packet of my blood! I feel very weird (in a good way) knowing that my body contains so much of this... thick, sticky fluid. And that it's very high in demand (I'm of O+ type!), and that it can save 3 lives.
It's just weird, but cool. I'm sleepy, going to sleep. Haven't had a good night's sleep for the past few days, I keep on having weird dreams and waking up at intervals.
In fact on Sunday, I woke up at 730am and couldn't get back to sleep! Madness right?! Nights!

Music!!!
Because I haven't posted up any new music in so long, here's 2! (Come to think of it I haven't blogged in almost a week either - that's because my life is extremely boring.)
My current iMoment - Hot Blooded by Foreigner. It came out in 1978 you know! I mean, that's like 11 years before I was born. I don't know what's my sudden fetish with 80's music (in this case 70's) but they're really good!!
First heard it in an episode of Bones -if I'm not wrong it's the season 1 episode Two Bodies in the Lab. Both Brennan and Booth were dancing to it, which makes it a very good scene!!!!
There's just something hyper about the beat right?!
Next is Wild Mountain Nation by Blitzen Trapper, an alternative rock group which I only heard of due to Chuck. I think an obscene amount of my music comes from watching an equally obscene amount of TV.
There's some element of Blitzen Trapper that makes me really like their music. I'm not sure if it's their folkish sound or their instrumentation but I really love them. TOO BAD I HAD TO DOWNLOAD ALL THE SONGS I HAVE OF THEIRS (which is only 3) BECAUSE I CAN'T FIND THEIR ALBUM ANYWHERE IN SINGAPORE.
Maybe I shall try ordering from Amazon? Or get Deb to buy me back the album if it's available down under? It's called Blitzen Trapper - Furr (which is another single of theirs I love!!!)
Singapore, your music selection sucks.
I'm doing maths now, ew. Actually my hatred for maths this semester has been somewhat dulled by all the other crazy modules. Maths actually seems easy in comparison =)
